Distribution and Marketing Methods
Marketing & Distribution
The audience
will be able to purchase the magazine from the standard supermarkets and
newsagents. However, because this is specifically a gaming magazine, my
magazine could also be published in shops that specifically sell games, for
example GAME or CEX. This would be a good way to reach the preferred audience
because commonly people who go to these shops will have a large interest in
games, and within this there would. These shops are also the types that would
sell game merchandise meaning this audience may also go here to look for things
like that. Though, this magazine also has fashion elements in it, so it could
also be put in clothing shops like H&M as a freebie if someone spends so
much money, though this may not reach the preferred audience as most clothing
shops are not exactly specific to taste.
My magazine
is going to be distributed nationally rather than globally because it would
have too much of a high cost for a new magazine. Publishing globally would also
mean having to publish it in different languages, which again would be
difficult because the magazine would be new and would only be worth translating
if it got a lot of attention.
Digital Distribution
My magazine
will also have an online PDF version which can be downloaded. This will be
beneficial because they are usually less expensive than print magazines. In
this case, the PDF version will be free to those who purchase the print version
and will be accessed through a QR code within the magazine. Digital copies also
do not take up physical space meaning they won’t get lost or cause clutter,
which can also link to environmental benefits of reducing paper waste. Another
benefit will be how someone can easily access the content on any device (phone,
tablet, computer), making it more convenient to be able to read on-the-go.
Target
Audience
To attract
the audience to my magazine, it would be good to try and highlight the customisation
options that the game offers. This can be done by showcasing unique and trendy
outfits, featuring interviews with players who have a passion for fashion with
tips for customising outfits, and collaborating with influencers in the Animal
Crossing community to reach a wider audience.
A lot of people often go to Pinterest for island/outfit ideas, so the idea is to try and make it look like what someone might find on there, so it is as if they are looking for inspiration in real life. The way that this will also appeal to the psychometric audience (Mainstreamer) is because since they are part of a group of like-minded people, which can be anyone in any kind of gaming community.
